This is salt mined from the earth as opposed to salt evaporated from the sea. Dr. Harold explained it as, “mined salt is a fossil and sea salt is a living element.”
Most processed foods whether canned, frozen, or preserved contain mine salt.
There is a salt company that claims they have a “sea salt” mined from an ancient seabed. This is a “mined salt” and must be avoided. This product is from Utah. You can only use a true sea salt dehydrated fresh from the ocean, not a fossilized seabed in Utah.
It is best to use an unprocessed sea salt, which may be ordered through your local health food store from a special macrobiotic listing; most come from Mexico. A pure, true salt is grayish or pinkish in color, and contains a multitude of valuable minerals and trace elements. We trust “Celtic Sea Salt,” but there are others available. Read labels and use only products that specify that they contain sea salt.
There is a lot of individualization with this intolerance: watch symptoms.
